Irish Soda Bread with Raisins

Irish Soda Bread

3 cups flour

1 Tbsp bkg powder

1/3 cup white sugar

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

1 egg

2 cups buttermilk

1/4 cup butter, melted

2/3 cup raisins

Preheat the oven to 350 and grease a 9X5 loaf pan.

Mix ingredients just enough.

Bake about an hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

This bread is from an old old recipe handed down from....ok, I found it on It's good - it doesn't need any butter or anything.
Ahm num num num.....ahm num num....this one took me off South Beach permanently! Oh, what I was missing!!!

I would make it today, except i would have to run to MB for buttermilk! Ugh! LOL

Oh, but where are the carraway seeds?! But then the kids wouldn't have eaten it (since my girls didn't). All the more for me then. ha ha
